If you love Colonial Architecture then Mission Hill’s annual tour of historic homes is a tour you want to go on Saturday April 16th. The tour will showcase homes built in the Colonial Revival style.
The walking tours are about 60 to 90 minutes and will be conducted between 1 and 4 p.m. As docents lead participants past homes built in this popular East Coast style, they will share the history of individual homes, the architects and builders, and the homes’ early occupants.
The Mission Hills neighborhood is known for its Craftsman, Spanish Revival and Prairie School homes, but there also are more than 75 Colonial Revival homes, ranging from mansions to cottages. The style incorporates features of classical Roman and Greek architecture; it migrated from England to the New World during the 1700s.
Tickets for the tours are $15, or $10 for MHH members. They can be purchased in advance through their website or after 12:30 p.m. on the day of the tour at 4230 Arguello St.
