Have you ever wondered what it is like to swim with sharks? If swimming with sharks is on your bucket list, then La Jolla Shores beach is the place to be right now. That is where you will find thousand of Leopard Sharks.
Leopard Sharks are the most common sharks along the coast of California and just like every other beach goer a large number of them love to come to San Diego in the summer months (June – September), where they spawn annually in the shallow waters of La Jolla Shores. They are distinctively marked with brown spots on a gray background that resembles a leopard print. They are harmless and great to a watch. You can snorkel, or kayak with them or just watch from the beach. The display will amaze you!
This year Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, has dedicated the month of July to the leopard shark! Visit their website for information on the leopard shark.
