America’s premier rough water swim has been a summertime tradition in La Jolla since 1916 and on average draws in over 2,000 swimmers, ranging in age from 5 to 85 years old. The race start and finish for all events is on the beach at La Jolla Cove. The course has changed a bit over the years but today’s triangular courses and the natural arena like characteristics of the Cove offer spectators a great view of the entire Rough Water Swim.
