The La Jolla Historical Society will host its 19th annual Secret Garden Tour. This tour is one of my favorite garden tours. If you are a garden lover, like me then La Jolla’s secret garden tour is a must. It’s La Jolla Historical Society’s primary annual fundraising event.
La Jolla Historical Society for the first time ever will kicks off the 2017 Secret Garden Tour with a new event - a Friday Night Candlelight Garden Soirée! The Soirée will be held Friday, May 19th 6:00PM-8:30
This intimate garden gathering provides guests an opportunity to mix and mingle with other garden enthusiasts while enjoying hors d'oeuvres, wine and music all by candlelight. The evening also provides an opportunity to meet special guest Nan Sterman, garden designer, botanist, author and host of the popular KPBS show "A Growing Passion
The 2017 Secret Garden tour gardens featured this year are accompanied by spectacular La Jolla properties with beautiful views, gardens include a historically designated 1930s Edgar Ulrich fantasy castle with romantic gardens to match, a Cape Cod Ranch overlooking canyons and the ocean with vegetable gardens and fruit trees, a 1930s Spanish Style home set in a botanical wonderland with specimen plants and spectrums of color, and an elegant home set amongst drought-resistant plants over more than an acre property.
All the gardens will be enhanced with music performed by local musicians and tabletop displays by local designers. There will also be local artists capturing the essence of the gardens.
All Proceeds from the tour make it possible for the Society to care for its extensive and unique collection, create and expand educational programs to advocate the preservation of La Jolla’s heritage. The cost for the tour: Platinum $150, Self-Guided tour $50, the Soiree only $75 and the Platinum & Soiree $215. Events like the Secret Garden Tour enables the Society to preserve La Jolla’s special character and charm.
